Get to know Marini better!

Marini Nainggolan is a music undergraduate concentrating on vocal performance at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia. Now she pursues career as a vocalist, songwriter,

voice teacher and backing vocalist.

Growing up being influenced by various kind of genres, from The Beach Boys to Joni Mitchell to Esperanza Spalding to Veronica Swift, Marini never intended to limit her music into a certain genre. Not only to express her music, she also aims to share her thoughts and values through her lyrics. That's what drives her to release her first album in 2018 titled "Ambivalén" a month after her first single "Siklus Gila".

Apart being a soloist, since 2015 she’s also been working as a backing vocalist for Indonesia’s well-known female singer, Raisa. Marini also often collaborates with her best friends Dua Empat at numerous events such as Java Jazz Festival, Jazz Goes to Campus, Singapore Jazz Festival and Sofarsounds Jakarta.

She has been teaching since 2016 – present. Marini’s teaching style focuses more on healthy singing & how to explore the singers’ instrument which is their own bodies. She believes that in music & singing, there’s always more room to grow, there’s always more beauty to enjoy, if we choose to keep on learning.

Pandemic opens up a new possibility and Marini started to open online lessons. Since then she has been focusing more on teaching adults & teenagers (13 years old & older)

2011 - present

Marini has been working professionally as a singer ever since she was in high school (2011)

In 2015 she started singing as a backing vocalist while still performing solo.
